This week is one for new starts – and what better way to bring in a new season than with fresh ideas, attitudes and habits.
As autumn arrives and the leaves begin to fall, spirits rise for one resident who has helped with a deep clean of his room and is settling into his newly transformed space. Another has submitted a housing application to the council and been accepted onto a GCSE programme at Uxbridge College, starting in just a few weeks!
Four other residents have engaged with either mental health or drug and alcohol services whilst another has bit the bullet and started addressing his debts with StepChange.
Two residents have made their next move in finding employment with one embarking on the second component of his CSCS (construction) exam and another being referred to Independent Placement Support for further assistance.
And finally, one resident who was supported by SHOC as a rough sleeper, before being housed with us, has started volunteering at the day centre to show others the same kindness he himself was offered at a time of need.
