The 'Breathing Space' initiative!
It’s Mental Health Awareness Week!
At Trinity, we are always looking to provide practical tools that everyone (staff and residents) can use to improve their mental health and increase their resiliency regardless of their personal situation.
This is one of the reasons why we decided to launch Breathing Space, an initiative intended to support Staff Mental Health through weekly sessions delivered by coaches, psychologists and experts within the field of well-being.
We have been running these sessions throughout the pandemic and have been receiving incredible stories that we would love to share with our community.
Here is what some of our participants have shared:

'The first one I had the pleasure of joining in on was the juicing session. The visual element when they had a lovely clear clean bowl of water and added the coffee and processed food etc was impactful. I definitely think about what I am putting into my body now. I also make a smoothie or juice for my lunch 5-6 days a week and I have lost a total of 4lbs due to this!
The session with the visualisation was sensational. It was very moving and I felt my inner strength come up to the surface. The technique was both emotional and full of meaning for me. On the one hand, I felt held, and on the other hand, I felt the out of body experience was a risk I wouldn’t have felt safe enough to take if it hadn’t been for the space I was in, at that moment.
It gives me time and space to breathe... and that is the whole point of the sessions is it not!! I feel valued and cared for and that in itself is a great place to be in.'

'The Breathing Space sessions are definitely time well spent. It gave me some ‘me time’ to focus on my wellbeing. After each session I feel refreshed, the breathing meditation has helped me to reach a calm state and with a different perspective towards my day.
I was inspired by many phrases: “ Acceptance is more important than meditation…”, “You can’t stop the waves...but you can learn to surf” John Kabat-Zinn. Loved it! Lots to take away. Namaste!'

'I really think it’s wonderful that Trinity does so much as a company to support each other and put so much care and emphasis on the staff mental well-being.
I have only attended one session as it was my first week but I really enjoyed it and have been listening to ‘Playing Big by Tara Mohr’ on audible, on my commutes to and from work, as I loved the visualisation and the connection is strengthened between the women in the group.
I am looking forward to participating in future zooms with you all.'

'I have loved the breathing space sessions, and think they are so beneficial. Last week was a turning point for me, where we were taken through a Visualisation exercise to meet our future selves in 20 years time to ask for guidance and wisdom. Yes, I was emotional visiting my future self, but it has sat with me since and it feels so right and not everything is as it is in the movies (as they say). So, thank you for that session as I will most definitely speak with my future self again when I need some guidance.'

'The sessions I have attended have all been great. It is a real pleasure to be able to dedicate a short time each week to concentrate on yourself and be around like-minded people. After the session I feel refreshed and refuelled and ready to carry on.'
Anyone can suffer from Mental Health, therefore it’s our responsibility to support each other. Together we can make a greater change.
